Gremio Withdraw Their Offer for River Plate Forward & Lazio Target Rafael Santos Borré

Brazilian side Gremio have withdrawn their offer for Lazio target Rafael Santos Borré today.

As seen in a post on their Twitter page earlier today, Gremio announced their decision to withdraw the offer for the 25-year-old Colombian forward, whose contract expires with Argentinian side River Plate at the end of the season.

The Brazilian club had issued an ultimatum to Borré, who was hesitant to make a final decision on his future given the interest from clubs in Europe, including Lazio.

The Biancocelesti are interested in signing the 25-year-old Borré on a free transfer this summer after Kosovan forward Vedat Muriqi failed to live up to expectations.

Today’s announcement by Gremio to withdraw their offer has removed a competitor in the race for the River Plate forward’s signature.

Gremio touched on their decision, saying:

Gremio announces the formal withdrawal from the acquisition of Rafael Santos Borré.

The decision is based on the insecurity generated by the athlete’s hesitation, which casts doubt on the purpose, disposition and willingness of the athlete to join our team.
