Italian National Team Manager Roberto Mancini Discusses Ciro Immobile’s Performance Against Lithuania

Ciro Immobile made two starts for the Italian national team in the now recent international window. For one, Immobile featured for Italy in its 2022 World Cup qualifying fixture against Lithuania.

Immobile had multiple chances to score an open play goal against Lithuania but came up short in the end. The Lazio star did finish the match scoring a last-minute penalty goal.

Italian national team manager Roberto Mancini sees that for Immobile, he needs to be patient and wait for the game to come to him. Mancini spoke (via La Lazio Simao Noi) following Italy’s win over Lithuania about Immobile’s recent form.

Many things have to be evaluated. Ciro put the maximum of what he could put. We must evaluate the physical condition that at this moment is not brilliant. The important thing is that he and Belotti are there, then the goals will come with more continuity.

For the moment, there is no clear-cut starter for Italy at the starting center-forward position. Immobile is among several contenders vying for this role.
