Lazio Playmaker Expected to Miss Spezia Clash After Injury in Training

Lazio midfielder Luis Alberto will undergo medical examinations today but is expected to miss Saturday’s match against Spezia.

According to a report from Italian radio broadcaster Radiosei (via La Lazio Siamo Noi) earlier today, the 28-year-old Spaniard suffered an injury in training yesterday after receiving a strong challenge from Italian defender Nicolo Armini in a training match.

Luis Alberto was keen to defend his teammate, as the situation was just something that occurs in training sometimes, and came about with no ill intent.

It’s likely that the Spanish midfielder suffered a sprained ankle, although it appears that his ligaments are still ok.

Coach Simone Inzaghi is now thinking about alternatives for Luis Alberto’s starting spot for Saturday’s match, with the main candidates currently being Andreas Pereira, Marco Parolo and Danilo Cataldi.

Jean-Daniel Akpa Akpro, who is currently away with the Ivory Coast, will return to Formello either today or tomorrow and is unlikely to start on the weekend.
