Letter Written by Pope Francis Read Out at Lazio Primavera Midfielder Guerini’s Funeral

A letter written by Pope Francis was read out at Lazio Primavera midfielder Daniel Guerini’s funeral today.

According to a report from Italian media outlet La Lazio Siamo Noi earlier today, the parish priest who held the ceremony read out the letter, which was written by the Pope and was dedicated to Guerini and his family.

Having learned of the news of his untimely death, His Holiness Pope Francis wishes to express his heartfelt condolences to his parents Danilo and Michela, to his brother Alessio, and to all his family, to the Lazio club, to the directors and friends, assuring them that the life of the deceased is simply transformed and that it is prepared for eternity.

May he obtain comfort, and may he obtain the comforting apostolic blessing, extending it to all those present today for him.

Many Biancocelesti fans gathered outside the Chiesa di San Giovanni Bosco today to pay tribute to Guerini, singing the club’s anthem and displaying a touching banner.
