The Stats Behind Ciro Immobile’s Performance for Italy Against Lithuania

Lazio forward Ciro Immobile earned another start for the Italian national team in its 2022 World Cup qualifying fixture against Lithuania.

Immobile joined Stephan El Shaarawy upfront in the team’s duo-striker setup.

Overall, Italy recorded 11 total shots on target against Lithuania with four of them coming from Immobile. However, the Lazio star did not score an open play goal as he whiffed on all four of his high percentage goal-scoring opportunities in the match. The Italian forward did end up scoring a goal in the match as he bagged a late penalty score.

Immobile found success in being a playmaking forward over the course of the fixture. The Lazio talent created four goal-scoring opportunities but did not log an assist.

Immobile continues to make a case to be Italy’s top option at the center-forward position, although he has competition from the likes of Paris Saint-Germain’s Moise Kean and Torino’s Andrea Belotti.
