Heading into Albania’s 2022 World Cup qualifying fixture against San Marino, Lazio goalkeeper Thomas Strakosha had not featured in a match in all competitions since the Biancocelesti’s Coppa Italia fixture against Parma.
After a lengthy time in being an unused substitute as of late, Strakosha returned to action in Albania’s matchup against San Marino.
Albania wound up clinching a key 2-0 win over San Marino as the side maintained its dominance over the course of the match thanks to its 26 total shots recorded and 80 percent possession rank.
For Strakosha, he did not have to do much in the fixture as San Marino totalled for a mere four shots with only one of them being on target. Strakosha also finished the fixture with just 17 total touches and 12 passes completed.
Strakosha now will return to Lazio where for the moment, Pepe Reina remains the team’s clear-cut starter over at the goalkeeper position.
