Lazio Coach Inzaghi: “I Hope to Stay Here for Many Years, I’ll Meet Lotito Today”

Lazio coach Simone Inzaghi confirmed his commitment to the Biancocelesti when speaking in a press conference earlier today.

Speaking to gathered reporters (via La Lazio Siamo Noi) ahead of tomorrow’s Serie A clash against Spezia, the 44-year-old Italian coach first discussed Romanian veteran Stefan Radu and his appearance record.

I’m happy for him, for the record he achieved. He’s a guy who in all these years, first as a team-mate, now as his coach, has earned it on the field.

For the dedication and commitment he puts into his profession. I’m happy that he has achieved this very important record.

He commented on his contract renewal with the Roman club.

I’ll see the president in a few minutes. Yesterday we were also united in our grief, together with Daniel’s family. Because yesterday was a very sad and painful day for the world of Lazio.

This thing that happened made me go back nine years with the other tragedy of Mirko Fersini. These things should never happen.

As far as my future is concerned, I don’t think there are any problems, I’ll meet with the president calmly and we’ll see what to do.

Inzaghi spoke about if there’ll be a change of pace between now and the end of the season.

Certainly before the break we left with two important victories, not easy, especially the one in Udine, after playing in Munich. We faced a team that was in fifth place in the second half of the season in terms of average points, so we played an important game.

Tomorrow with Spezia we will have to follow it up. We’ll make sure we get back in the best possible way. Both for those who stayed and those who went to the national team, which is a source of great pride for everyone, I hope to find them as I left them.

The 44-year-old Italian coach estimated how long Luis Alberto will be sidelined with injury.

He’s had a major sprain, so we definitely won’t have him with Spezia. There is hope, he will have to work from day to day with the staff.

He had a major effusion that has already come out on his ankle, he had a major injury.

The Biancocelesti coach spoke about the physical condition of star striker Ciro Immobile.

I spoke to him yesterday 10 minutes. He’s coming from a 90-minute game on a synthetic pitch, I’ll talk to him, I’ll assess his condition.

I think it’s a bit premature to say whether he’ll play or not because he had a tough game. But he seemed to be in good shape yesterday.

He commented on the team’s hopes of finishing in the top four.

We’re in that group. Both us and Atalanta have done important things to stay there. It’s still a long way to go, there are 11 games left.

The other teams are very well equipped, but we’ll do our best to stay in the Europe that matters.

Inzaghi confirmed that he is looking to stay with Lazio.

I’m happy with what I’ve done in these years. I hope to go on with Lazio for many more years. As in all families you have to sit down, but I think the president considers me his first choice.

I think this marriage can go on in the best possible way, without ifs and buts.

He spoke about Andreas Pereira.

A guy who works very well on a daily basis. He can be an important option for us tomorrow. I’m happy with the way he’s settled in, he can play as a mezzala or second striker.

It’s not easy considering the players in front of him. But the way he works, he deserves more minutes.

Finally, Inzaghi did not want to comment on Sassuolo’s position.

I don’t like to judge what others are doing, I look at my own house.
