Lazio Coach Inzaghi to Start Either Pereira or Akpa Akpro Against Spezia

Lazio coach Simone Inzaghi is considering starting either Andreas Pereira or Jean-Daniel Akpa Akpro in place of the injured Luis Alberto against Spezia tomorrow.

According to a report from Italian radio broadcaster Radiosei (via La Lazio Siamo Noi) earlier today, it won’t be easy for the 44-year-old Italian coach to replace the 28-year-old Spanish midfielder, who is one of the top playmakers in Serie A this season.

Luis Alberto has seemingly suffered an ankle sprain in training earlier this week and is expected to be out for around 10 days.

One option to replace the Spaniard is the 25-year-old Pereira, who has found little playing time this campaign. Inzaghi doesn’t see the Manchester United-owned man as a mezzala, but instead as a winger or trequartista, so he may have to change his formation to get the best out of Pereira.

The other alternative, which was tried out in yesterday’s training session, is the 28-year-old Akpa Akpro. Whilst he’s only made three league starts this campaign, he has proven a safe option off the bench.
