Torino President Urbano Cairo: “Lazio Fans Made Me Feel at Home at Guerini’s Funeral”

Torino president Urbano Cairo expressed his grief over the death and funeral of Lazio Primavera midfielder Daniel Guerini.

As reported by Italian radio broadcaster Radiosei (via La Lazio Siamo Noi) earlier today, the Granata president commented on yesterday’s funeral.

The emotion, grief, participation and respect have united us all in the church, beyond the colours and sporting rivalries. There were touching aspects that I will always carry with me.

Daniel’s tragic death brought me into close contact with his family, his mom, dad and uncle, and I experienced their despair at first hand.

I also greatly appreciated the whole Lazio environment, which proved to be passionate and sensitive, I felt at home. These fans, led by the ultras, showed me respect and appreciation for our participation.

He then spoke about an interaction he had with Biancocelesti president Claudio Lotito.

I arrived at the church at around 11:40, when Lotito knew I was there he came looking for me, he greeted me warmly and we hugged.
