Ex-Forward Cassano: “AC Milan Could Have Used a Player Like Lazio’s Caicedo”

Former Roma forward Antonio Cassano thought that AC Milan should have looked to sign Lazio striker Felipe Caicedo.

Speaking on Christian Vieri’s Twitch.tv channel (via La Lazio Siamo Noi) earlier today, the 38-year-old Italian discussed Rossoneri striker Mario Mandzukic and if he’s a good fit for Stefano Pioli’s side.

Mandzukic is Milan’s only flaw, he is a question mark. I had said that he wouldn’t be needed, they had to get a reliable and healthy forward, who can score a few goals when Ibrahimovic isn’t there.

They could have used a player like Caicedo. He’s there, he doesn’t annoy anyone, you throw him in when you need him and he scores goals.

He won’t become a starter, but he could have been ideal. When Ibrahimovic isn’t there Pioli has to adapt Leao and Rebic, who aren’t the best centre-forwards.

The 32-year-old Caicedo has scored eight goals in 22 Serie A appearances so far this season, winning the Roman club nine points in total.
