Formello: Lazio Midfielder Luis Alberto Set to Miss Serie A Clash Against Hellas Verona

Lazio midfielder Luis Alberto is expected to miss Sunday’s Serie A clash against Hellas Verona due to concerns surrounding his ankle.

According to a report from Italian media outlet La Lazio Siamo Noi earlier today, the 28-year-old Spaniard missed today’s training session in Formello as the Biancocelesti do not want to take a risk with his right ankle.

Luis Alberto suffered an injury to the ankle in training last week but managed to recover in time for the 2-1 win over Spezia. However, in doing so it was heavily bruised and so the club don’t want to risk further aggravating the injury by playing him this weekend as well.

Luiz Felipe and Patric were also both absent from today’s training session, with the Brazilian defender continuing to train separately. The Spanish defender is struggling with back issues which is what kept him out of that Spezia win.

Manuel Lazzari and Joaquin Correa will both be absent against the Gialloblu after picking up late red cards in the win over Vincenzo Italiano’s side, leaving either Felipe Caicedo or Vedat Muriqi to start alongside Ciro Immobile against Hellas Verona.

Regarding a replacement for Lazzari, it depends on where coach Simone Inzaghi decides to start Adam Marusic. The Montenegrin could join the back three in place of Patric, in which case Senad Lulic would start on the right and Mohamed Fares on the left.

The alternative would be to start Jean-Daniel Akpa Akpro in the right wing-back role, a place he has been tested in during training sessions before.
