Lazio defender Stefan Radu was overjoyed with the gifts he received celebrating his all-time appearance record with the Biancocelesti.
According to a report from Italian media outlet La Lazio Siamo Noi earlier today, a celebration was held in the training ground in Formello, with previous record holder Beppe Favalli and president Claudio Lotito both present to give gifts to the 34-year-old Romanian defender.
Radu was first presented with a picture of himself and his framed shirt bearing the number 402 by the club, before the squad gave him a throne bearing his name on the back of a Lazio shirt.
The Lazio veteran was incredibly happy with the gifts, speaking gleefully to Italian radio broadcaster Lazio Style Radio, where he said:
I’m very happy, the team and the club have given me two crazy surprises; I didn’t expect to receive these gifts. I don’t know who came up with this idea, I’m curious, it’s a beautiful gift, I’ll remember it forever.
Now I’m looking forward to the ten finals before the end of the season. I hope that the warehouse staff will help me to bring all this home. My children will be happy too, but I’ll tell them it’s a gift for me!
The 34-year-old Radu, who has been with Lazio since the summer of 2008, has made 23 appearances across all competitions so far this season, for a total of 1780 minutes.
He has remained a consistent part of coach Simone Inzaghi’s squad this season, and may even be offered a contract extension at the end of the season.
