Ciro Immobile took home Golden Boot honours for the 2019/2020 season following his 36-goal Serie A campaign. This was the first time in his career that he won this top goal-scoring award.

Immobile played a key role in Lazio’s run to a top-four finish last season. The Italian forward scored multiple clutch game-winning goals and simply had his way against even the top defenses in the league.

As Immobile told the GL17CH Twitch channel, winning the Golden Boot award was a top honour in his career.

I didn’t focus on it until they handed it to me. Winning the award allowed my dreams to come true. It was a true satisfaction that proved that hardwork pays off.

Immobile has faced criticism in years past over stat-padding his goals total with penalties. This critique is not one that he is much concerned with.

An attacker has everything to lose. If his shot is saved, the goalkeeper becomes the hero and you have failed. I have taken several penalties in the last few minutes, when the ball feels like it weighs ten kilos. My mom can’t watch them. When she’s at home she goes to the garden; when she’s at the stadium, she goes to the buffet area.

Immobile has so far scored 14 league goals over the ongoing league campaign.
