Formello: Lazio’s Luis Alberto Carries Out Individual Work Ahead of Hellas Verona Clash

Lazio midfielder Luis Alberto returned to training today, carrying out individual work whilst wearing his football boots.

According to a report from Italian media outlet La Lazio Siamo Noi earlier today, the 28-year-old Spaniard has been carrying out physiotherapy work so far this week, after gritting his teeth to get through the 2-1 win over Spezia.

Luis Alberto suffered an ankle injury in training last week but still managed to feature against Vincenzo Italiano’s side, and is now hoping to be fit enough to feature against Hellas Verona on Sunday.

His individual work today is a good sign as it means that the Spaniard has two more training sessions to attempt to reach a comfortable level of fitness before the clash with the Gialloblu.

Spanish defender Patric, who has been absent lately due to back problems, also carried out individual work on a separate pitch today.

Today’s training session was led by assistant coach Massimiliano Farris, alongside technical assistants Mario Cecchi and Riccardo Rocchini. Coach Simone Inzaghi is currently in isolation after testing positive for Covid-19.

Other absentees from today’s training session were Luiz Felipe, who is still working to recover from his ankle surgery, Argentine defender Mateo Musacchio and Italian midfielder Danilo Cataldi.

The rest of the squad warmed up, did strength work, ball possession work and then had a practice match on a small pitch with three teams playing, with Joaquin Correa’s goal giving the ‘white’ team a win.

Tactical training exercises ahead of the Hellas Verona match will begin tomorrow, with everything currently depending on the physical conditions of Luis Alberto and Patric. Whether or not Patric is available will guide the decision regarding Adam Marusic’s role, either as a wing-back or in the back line.
