Lazio Assistant Coach Farris to Lead the Squad Against Hellas Verona This Weekend

Lazio assistant coach Massimiliano Farris will lead the squad in Sunday’s Serie A match against Hellas Verona, after coach Simone Inzaghi tested positive for Covid-19.

According to a report from Italian radio broadcaster Radiosei (via La Lazio Siamo Noi) earlier today, the 45-year-old Italian coach is currently isolating at his home in Parioli after testing positive for the contagion.

The origin of the infection has come from outside the team, so it’s not related to the cluster of Italian players who have been testing positive since the recent international break.

For now, it seems that the first to be infected was probably Inzaghi’s wife Gaia, who made the announcement on social media last night.

As such, Farris will lead the squad from the sidelines against the Gialloblu on Sunday at the Stadio Marcantonio Bentegodi.

Inzaghi has reached an agreement with president Claudio Lotito regarding his contract renewal and so after recovering from the virus is expected to put pen to paper.
