Lazio Striker Ciro Immobile: “We Miss the Fans”

Lazio striker Ciro Immobile went in-depth on what it has been like to play without fans this season.

Spectators are still barred from attending Serie A fixtures due to the ongoing coronavirus restrictions. This could change soon pending rulings by local government officials but for now, fans are still not yet allowed to fill Serie A stadiums just yet.

For Immobile, it has been surreal to play a second consecutive season without fans in stadiums, which he detailed further during his talk with the GL17CH Twitch channel.

There have been games that would have been packed this year. We miss the fans a lot.

When you have to make up a game, with the crowd giving you a boost, you have extra motivation. Now it doesn’t change, playing away and at home is the same thing.

I’m the kind of player that when I play away and gets booed, I get even more motivated.

The absence of fans in the stadium has not impacted Immobile’s form as much considering that he is still on track for yet another 20-goal league campaign.
