Lazio Veteran Stefan Radu Hoping to Extend His Contract Beyond This Season

Lazio defender Stefan Radu is hoping to sign a contract extension to continue his adventure with the Biancocelesti.

According to a report from Italian newspaper La Repubblica (via LazioPress.it) earlier today, the 34-year-old Romanian veteran celebrated his all-time appearance record with the Roman club at the training ground in Formello yesterday after making 402 appearances and overtaking Giuseppe Favalli’s record.

Radu’s contract expires with the Roman club in June, but the 34-year-old defender is not yet ready to leave Lazio and so is hoping for a contract extension to continue his time with the club for a little longer.

The Romanian defender has been a consistent part of coach Simone Inzaghi’s squad so far this season, making 23 appearances across all competitions, for a total of 1780 minutes. He also made his career debut in the Champions League this campaign, a historic memory for the Biancocelesti veteran.

Another Lazio veteran whose contract expires this season is Bosnian wing-back Senad Lulic, although the 35-year-old’s more precarious physical condition could force him to hang up his boots this summer.
