Lazio Preparing to Offer 4-Year Contract for Expiring Napoli Defender & Inter Target

Lazio are working to sign expiring Napoli defender Nikola Maksimovic on a free transfer this summer.

According to a report from Italian media outlet TuttoMercatoWeb yesterday, the Biancocelesti are interested in acquiring the 29-year-old Serbian defender in the summer and are prepared to offer him a four-year contract.

Inter are also interested in signing Maksimovic and so Lazio are moving early in order to secure his signature.

Coach Simone Inzaghi appreciated the Serbian defender’s qualities in the January transfer window as well but the player wasn’t allowed to leave in the winter.

The 29-year-old Maksimovic has made 27 appearances across all competitions so far this season, for a total of 2060 minutes. In that time, he has picked up two yellow cards and helped the side keep 10 clean sheets.

Lazio are looking to strengthen their defense in the upcoming summer transfer window, with Argentine defender Mateo Musacchio and Southampton loanee Wesley Hoedt failing to solve the Biancocelesti’s defensive issues.
