Portuguese Giant Joins Lazio in the Race to Sign River Plate Striker

Lazio will be in search of a forward to help take the scoring responsibilities off Ciro Immobile. One name that the Biancocelesti has their eyes on is River Plate striker Rafael Santos Borré; however, the Italian side might face competition.

According to A Bola (via La Lazio Siamo Noi), FC Porto is entering the race for the 25-year-old Colombian striker. The Portuguese media outlet adds that the forward’s representatives proposed the player to SL Benfica, but the Lisbon-based club has too many attackers.

Santos Borré’s contract expires in June, and the River Plate forward is a hot commodity as clubs line up in South America and Europe to sign him. Lazio will need to have their offer stand out as Simone Inzaghi’s side is in dire need of scoring depth.

Lazio gambled on Vedat Muriqi to be the scoring depth behind Immobile but has failed to impress. Santos Borré has made 133 appearances for River Plate and has scored 51 goals in all competitions.
