Lazio Women Coach Morace: “The Best Is Yet to Come As the Girls Are Still Growing”

Lazio Women coach Carolina Morace was overjoyed with her squad’s important 5-0 win over Chievo Verona Women yesterday.

Speaking in an interview with Italian radio broadcaster Lazio Style Radio (via La Lazio Siamo Noi) earlier today, Morace first spoke about the squad’s performance in the victory.

There has been growth in preparation and in form. The performances are of great intensity, the girls are giving their all and I’ve had to raise the pace and level of training.

I’m impressed by Castiello’s form, she arrived at the end of the match trying some dribbling, at the beginning she didn’t try these technical gestures, this certifies that when form grows, you improve also technically because you feel good and you try some plays with confidence.

The 57-year-old Italian coach then discussed the tactics against Chievo yesterday.

When results come and you’re physically fit, the players are able to give something more in terms of personality.

Yesterday’s match against Chievo was built around trying to play on the wings, Chievo had numerical superiority in the central areas of the pitch, while we tried to make a difference on the wings.

She commented on the current state of the squad’s mentality.

We want to steal the ball in offensive areas by pressing high to have more chances to score goals. My girls never stopped, despite the result, and the whole group played with the strong intention of not conceding any goals.

This is the mentality that a great team must have. Yesterday’s performance was the best by application, but the best is yet to come because the girls are growing and are always responding in a very positive way.

In the next match we will miss Di Giammarino and we will face Orobica, a team that has already played in Serie A.

We will have to impose our game as we are trying to do from match to match, during the week I will study the best strategy to propose to the team.

Finally, Morace spoke about the Serie B Women table.

We’re looking ahead, but also behind. I saw Pomigliano yesterday, we should be in that position.
