Lazio Women midfielder Rachel Cuschieri was happy with her first season in Rome after yesterday’s 5-0 win over Chievo Verona Women.

Speaking in an interview with Italian radio broadcaster Lazio Style Radio (via La Lazio Siamo Noi) earlier today, the 28-year-old Maltese midfielder first touched on yesterday’s win.

Yesterday’s win against Chievo Verona was a great victory. Coach Morace prepared us mentally and physically for this match and we did our job.

The success came thanks to our coaches Carolina Morace and Nicola Williams. They brought the necessary mentality to make us understand that we can play against anyone and each of us is giving our best to reach our goal.

The former PSV midfielder then discussed her relationship with coach Carolina Morace.

My relationship with Carolina Morace is fantastic, we have similar characters and we both hate to lose because we always want to win.

We are great workers, I am very happy that Carolina is my coach.

Finally, Cuschieri spoke about her teammates and their goal of achieving promotion.

It’s my first season at Lazio, several girls helped me to settle in. Certainly my roommates, Emma Guidi and Adriana Martin, but the girl who introduced me to the locker room the most was Federica Savini.

Our goal has always been to get promoted to Serie A, and we are well on our way to achieving that goal.

In order to achieve it we will have to keep working and listening to our coaches and keep believing in ourselves and in the possibility of promotion. We will have to continue to work hard every day.
