Lazio Coach Simone Inzaghi Hoping to Return for Sunday’s Match Against Benevento

Lazio coach Simone Inzaghi is hoping to return to the bench for the Biancocelesti’s Serie A clash against Benevento this weekend.

According to a report from Italian radio broadcaster Radiosei (via La Lazio Siamo Noi) earlier today, the 45-year-old Italian coach and his family have been in isolation at their home in Rome after they all tested positive for Covid-19 last week.

Inzaghi’s wife Gaia was hospitalized due to some concerns about her condition last week, but has now returned home and is feeling better, giving some relief to the Biancocelesti coach.

He was forced to miss last weekend’s 1-0 win over Hellas Verona due to the virus, but still closely followed the team and was in constant communication with his staff. The 45-year-old Italian is hoping to return for this weekend’s match against Benevento, coached by his brother Pippo.

Inzaghi will take a new Covid test on Saturday this week, with the results expected to arrive on Sunday morning at the latest.

Even if the test returns negative, it’s likely that Inzaghi will have to repeat his fitness tests to prove his recovery, meaning that his return could be delayed until next week’s match against Napoli on the 22nd of April.
