Lazio’s U19 team took care of business of Wednesday as it advanced to the Primavera TIM Cup final following the 3-2 semifinal win over Verona U19.
Lazio U19 coach Leonardo Menichini and his side will now be taking on Fiorentina U19 in the final later this season. For Menichini and his side, reaching the final of this tournament is among the highlights of their season.
Meinchini spoke further (via Lazio’s official website) on what it took from his side to clinch a spot in the final and the motivation that they had to complete this feat.
We are proud to have reached this final and to have honored this very important event [Daniel Guerini’s passing]. However, we must immediately think about and focus on our next league match.
I told the boys to believe it because we could have done it. We needed to give our best, now we have dedicated the victory to Guerini because he is here with us.
We were moved and Daniel’s mother also came to visit us. The desire to achieve the result came from Daniel.
Lazio U19 will now look ahead to resuming Campionato Primavera play with an upcoming fixture against Sassuolo U19.
