Formello: Inzaghi Has Doubts About Leiva Ahead of Lazio’s Clash Against Benevento

Lazio coach Simone Inzaghi has some doubts about Lucas Leiva ahead of this weekend’s league clash against Benevento.

According to a report from Italian media outlet La Lazio Siamo Noi earlier today, the 34-year-old Brazilian midfielder is fatigued and has been managing his condition over the last two days, returning to the pitch today for a part of the squad’s training session.

Leiva will take part in the tactical exercises ahead of the Benevento clash. Joaquin Correa and Manuel Lazzari, who were suspended against Hellas Verona, will return as starters, replacing Felipe Caicedo and Jean-Daniel Akpa Akpro.

Adam Marusic is expected to start alongside Francesco Acerbi and Stefan Radu in the defense, ahead of Pepe Reina.

Inzaghi is considering starting Argentine midfielder Gonzalo Escalante in place of Leiva if the former Liverpool man isn’t fit enough to face Benevento.

Luiz Felipe is continuing his recovery programme and is edging ever closer to a return to the squad.
