Lazio wants to make one last push to qualify for the UEFA Champions League as the 2020-21 Serie A season winds down. The Biancocelesti need to come away with wins, and three points as only a handful of fixtures remain.

Heading into the Stadio Olimpico is Benevento Calcio, who currently finds themselves in 16th place, so it’s an opponent that Lazio needs to defeat if they want to finish in the top four.

Ahead of the matchup, Lazio News relayed the comments made by Lucas Leiva about the upcoming fixture. One of the first questions the 34-year-old answered is over his expectation for what type of match it will be against Benevento.

It will be a challenging game; we had some difficulties in the first leg, so we will have to do better to win three fundamental points for our path in the standings.

Benevento, compared to three years ago, is a much more mature team. It will be a difficult match, but we have prepared well to win.

The other question that Leiva touched on is having their manager, Simone Inzaghi, talk to them remotely after the Lazio gaffer contracted the coronavirus; the 45-year-old has had to isolate and relay his message to the squad via a computer monitor.

Unfortunately, the coach is not present, but we see each other remotely every day with meetings; he follows every training session from home. I hope he can come back as soon as possible. However, with regards to the level of preparation, nothing has changed.
