Lazio Forward Correa: “Immobile Looked At Me & Told Me to Take the Penalty”

Lazio forward Joaquin Correa highlighted the importance of yesterday’s 5-3 win over Benevento.

Speaking in an interview with Italian radio broadcaster Lazio Style Radio (via La Lazio Siamo Noi) after the game, the 26-year-old Argentinian first discussed the performance in yesterday’s victory.

We scored some good goals and this is one of the positive things. Today in Serie A, there are no easy games. You step off of the gas for a moment and the opposing team makes you pay.

It will be a difficult week but we are aware of what we can do. We can play well against anyone.

We have heard from the coach all week, he’s always with us and that’s important because he’s everything to us. He helps us a lot and we hope to have him back on the bench soon.

He touched on his penalty in the match and how it was given to him by Ciro Immobile.

I’d spoken to Ciro and we’d decided that we should both score. He looked at me and said ‘you take the penalty’.

I always try to score goals, the last time I tried was in Bologna and unfortunately, I have a bad memory of it, but today, luckily it went well.

Finally, Correa spoke about the mistakes made in the victory.

They found spaces that we couldn’t cover, after the first goal at the end of the first half we gave up a bit.

We have to improve in that sense because when we take the lead, we drop our pace and we mustn’t make that mistake.
