Ex-Lazio Midfielder Agostinelli: “Whoever Loses Tonight Is Out of the Top 4 Race”

Former Lazio and Napoli midfielder Andrea Agostinelli suggested that the loser of tonight’s clash between the two sides would be out of the race for a top four finish.

Speaking in an interview with Italian radio broadcaster Radio Marte (via La Lazio Siamo Noi) earlier today, the 63-year-old Italian discussed tonight’s match.

There is a law in direct matches, win them but never lose them. If Napoli lose against Lazio the Biancocelesti will be a point ahead with a game in hand. The two teams will fear each other.

I would venture to say that whoever loses tonight is out of the Champions League, the mental aspect could be decisive. The big result for both teams was Milan’s defeat at home. Nowadays all teams can finish second.

He spoke about the Biancocelesti’s midfield.

Definitely one of the top 3 in Italy. This year we’ve lacked a bit of consistency. Immobile has started to score again, with him you were starting from 1-0.

There are cracks somewhere, Lazio won but never gave consistent performances, even though they brought the points home.

Finally, Agostinelli touched on Napoli’s midfield.

Napoli, with Demme missing, will have one less point of reference. It would be time for Bakayoko to play Bakayoko, we need a big game. I never expected Bakayoko to be in question in Napoli’s midfield.

For me tonight Napoli come through very well, Lazio good for results but not extraordinarily so for performances.
