Lazio Midfielder Cataldi: “We Can’t Lose Such an Important Match 5-2, We’re Angry”

Lazio midfielder Danilo Cataldi highlighted the team’s anger after their disappointing 5-2 loss to Napoli last night.

Speaking in an interview after the game (via La Lazio Siamo Noi), the 26-year-old Italian touched on last night’s match.

When I came on, I tried to help my team-mates. It’s important to believe that we can win the game. Today we conceded a few goals we couldn’t avoid but we can’t lose such an important match 5-2.

There’s a lot of disappointment and a lot of anger, but from tomorrow we’ll be thinking about AC Milan.

He touched on the penalty given away to the Partenopei and the squad’s mentality.

There was a dubious moment. I spoke to Sergej and he told me he caught the ball. Apart from the episode we are a great team and we can’t let ourselves down after five minutes. It took a lot from us to lose this game.

We are a team that has been playing together for a long time and we know each other well. We mustn’t give up like this. It was important not to press 2-0 and instead we conceded. Then we tried to get it back but it wasn’t easy.

Finally, Cataldi looked ahead to the next match against AC Milan on Monday.

There’s no fairer match in this moment. We know these games and we must immediately resume and show that tonight’s Lazio is not the right one. The objective is the three points.

There are only a few games left and we mustn’t think about who’s ahead of us. We know that if we win them all we’ll probably be in the Champions League.

Milan gives us a lot of incentive because they’re above us in the table. It’s going to be a tough game against a strong team that won’t go for a walk.
