After a significant loss to Napoli that put a damper on their UEFA Champions League hopes, Lazio sporting director Igli Tare spoke to La Repubblica (via La Lazio Siamo Noi) about the refereeing in the match against Napoli.
Tare wasn’t all that happy with Marco Di Bello, who awarded Napoli a penalty kick opportunity after a foul by Sergej Milinković-Savić. Less than five minutes into the match, Lazio would be down 1-0 and would find themselves in an uphill battle as they would eventually fall 5-2.
We played a tough match; two unforgivable mistakes were made that decided a match that had just begun. We are angry and embittered, but we won’t give up.
Despite falling to fifth place Napoli, as Tare stated, Lazio won’t give up considering they have a crucial match against AC Milan and have a makeup match versus Torino FC.
These two fixtures will likely determine whether they can crack a spot in the top four in Serie A. Furthermore, the Biancocelesti will welcome back their manager Simone Inzaghi who was battling the coronavirus and missed their last three games.
