“Anything Can Happen In the Last Six Matchdays” – Former Italy National Team Comments on Serie A Top Four Race

Lazio is currently fighting to finish in the top four to clinch a UEFA Champions League spot next season.

The Biancocelesti find themselves in sixth place, five points behind fourth-place Atalanta BC, who has 65 points.

Despite losing to Napoli, Lazio still has a puncher’s chance to have Champions League football next season. The first step for Simone Inzaghi’s side will be to defeat AC Milan, as they’ll be the last club Lazio faces that’s ahead of them in the Serie A standings. Then there will also be the makeup match against Torino FC, so there will be six crucial points on the table, and the other fixtures left for Lazio.

Former Italy national manager Marcello Lippi spoke to Tuttosport (via Lazio News) about the race in Serie A and his thoughts on where Lazio will finish.

Anything can happen in the last six matchdays; the Champions race is still very open.

In addition to Milan, Atalanta, Juventus, and Napoli, I still think Lazio can make it. The Biancocelesti did not seem very brilliant against Gattuso’s team, but by winning the recovery match against Torino, they could climb the table.

It will be interesting to see whether Lippi’s statements come to a reality and if Lazio can sneak into the top four with just a few weeks left in the season.
