Lazio defender Luiz Felipe is expected to return to the squad in time for the Biancocelesti’s game against Fiorentina next weekend.

According to a report from Italian radio broadcaster Radiosei (via La Lazio Siamo Noi) earlier today, the 24-year-old Brazilian defender is still recovering from his ankle surgery and is currently training separately.

His recovery is not yet complete and so he will not be risked against Genoa this Sunday, with either Marco Parolo or Wesley Hoedt starting alongside Stefan Radu and Adam Marusic.

Lazio hope that Luiz Felipe will be fit enough to take part in next weekend’s clash against Fiorentina, if not the match after against Parma.

The Brazilian defender’s contract expires with the Roman club at the end of next season and so it’s likely that a contract renewal will be negotiated over the coming months.

The 24-year-old Luiz Felipe has made 14 appearances across all competitions so far this season, for a total of 927 minutes. In that time, he has provided one assist and helped the side keep three clean sheets.
