Lazio Coach Inzaghi’s Contract Renewal Likely to Be Delayed Until End of the Season

No meeting has been scheduled between Lazio and coach Simone Inzaghi regarding his contract extension.

According to a report from Italian newspaper Corriere dello Sport (via LazioNews24) earlier today, the 45-year-old Italian coach was expected to meet with president Claudio Lotito soon to discuss the contract renewal, with his recent battle with Covid-19 delaying proceedings.

Inzaghi has since returned and yet no meeting has been scheduled, with it now seeming likely that the Italian coach will put pen to paper at the end of the season instead.

The Biancocelesti are currently focusing on other priorities like achieving a top-four finish for Champions League qualification, but the delay is likely to put pressure on the Lazio environment still.

For weeks now it has seemed that an agreement had been reached between Inzaghi and Lotito, and this postponement is likely to cause some anxiety to Lazio fans, most of whom still firmly believe in the 45-year-old Italian’s project.
