Lazio Interested in Signing Fiorentina Veteran Ribery on a Free Transfer

Lazio are interested in signing Fiorentina veteran Franck Ribery on a free transfer in the summer.

According to a report from Italian radio broadcaster Radiosei (via La Lazio Siamo Noi) earlier today, the Biancocelesti are mostly looking to sign young talents in the summer to rejuvenate the squad, but are also open to signing experienced veterans, with hopes that they can replicate Pepe Reina’s success.

The 38-year-old Ribery is now on sporting director Igli Tare’s list, and the Roman club believe that he might be a perfect option in the summer.

Fiorentina president Rocco Commisso has already offered the former Bayern Munich man a new one-year contract, with his current salary being halved from €4 million net per season to €2 million.

The Viola are confident that Ribery will agree to stay, but now Lazio’s interest may upset the balance a little.

Ribery would slot in as a second striker behind Ciro Immobile and could also be used in an offensive trident if coach Simone Inzaghi decides to change the formation a little.

The 38-year-old Ribery has made 26 appearances across all competitions so far this season, for a total of 1873 minutes. In that time, he has scored two goals and provided seven assists.
