Former Genoa Defender Claudio Onofri Sees Lazio Finishing in Serie A’s Top Four

Lazio has a puncher’s chance to finish in the top four to secure a UEFA Champions League birth. Nonetheless, one of the key proponents for the Biancocelesti to play in Europe’s top competition was to come away with a win over AC Milan.

Simone Inzaghi’s side will need to take all three points against Torino FC in their makeup match and rely on luck to go their side. Former Geona CFC defender Claudio Onofri spoke to the microphones of Lazio Press to discuss various topics concerning the Rome-based club.

One of the first questions that Onofri answered is over Lazio clinching a spot in the Champions League next season. Inzaghi’s side finds themselves five points out of fourth place Juventus FC.

If Lazio is the one seen battling with Milan for fourth place, they have all the potential to make it.

Sporting director Igli Tare’s scouting must be praised, in addition to Simone Inzaghi’s great work with the players.

Ciro Immobile, Luis Alberto, Sergej Milinkovic-Savic, and Joaquin Correa are in great form; I think this would be enough to allow them to achieve a top-four spot.

The next topic of discussion is over the Lazio bench boss and whether or not the project should continue with Inzaghi at the helm considering both parties continue to discuss a potential contract extension.

I have always believed in the importance of the manager. When you find someone like Inzaghi who always gets results with a very specific game identity, it is very important to try and keep him.

It is normal that there are ‘frictions’ due to trying to achieve certain expectations. I don’t know if there is a need for a change. If I were Claudio Lotito, I would try to keep him 100%.
