Lazio defender Luiz Felipe’s agent met with Barcelona last week, ahead of the upcoming summer transfer window.

According to a report from Italian media outlet TuttoMercatoWeb.com earlier today, the 24-year-old’s agent met with Barcelona last week, where they expressed their interest in the Brazilian defender, both for this summer’s window and next year also, when he’ll become a free agent.

Luiz Felipe’s current deal expires with Lazio at the end of next season, and whilst a contract renewal has been discussed, it hasn’t been confirmed. Despite this, the Roman club are confident that the 24-year-old will put pen to paper.

Barcelona’s interest in Luiz Felipe is nothing new, but the Catalan side are looking to rejuvenate their squad with lower-cost options in the summer and the Brazilian defender seems to fit that bill perfectly.

The 24-year-old has only made 14 appearances across all competitions this season as he underwent serious ankle surgery at the end of January, which he still hasn’t returned from yet, although he has been making progress in training.
