Italian Journalist Barchiesi Discusses Takeaways from Lazio’s Major Serie A Win Over Genoa

Lazio came away with a thrilling Serie A win on matchday 34 with the key 4-3 victory against Genoa. Both Ciro Immobile and Joaquin Correa led the goal-scoring barrage in the match as they combined for three goals scored.

Italian journalist Massimo Barchiesi notes that he saw a semblance from last season’s Lazio team in this match. Barchiesi spoke further to Radiosei (via Cittaceleste) on this major league win for the Biancocelesti.

I saw last year’s Lazio again, the pre-lockdown one. From the first minute until the 80th minute, it was a domination, except for that inattention that led Genoa to reopen the game with Marusic’s own goal.

In football, one lapse in concentration is enough to reopen a match. Genoa found two goals in the space of a few minutes that put everything back on the table. Even though they had few chances, the fear of screwing things up was alive until the end.

Lazio have now won 11 straight league matches at home, which is one impressive streak over the second half of the league campaign. This streak for the Biancocelesti have helped the side keep pace with the rest of the top-four contenders in the league table.
