Lazio Defender & Barcelona Target Luiz Felipe Returns to Squad Training Today

Lazio defender Luiz Felipe is expected to return to squad training today, ahead of Saturday’s match against Fiorentina.

According to a report from Italian radio broadcaster Radiosei (via La Lazio Siamo Noi) earlier today, the 24-year-old Brazilian is expected to return to today’s session, with the goal being for him to join the squad to face the Viola.

Luiz Felipe’s return is almost like a new signing for coach Simone Inzaghi, who has been forced to use Patric, Matteo Musacchio and Adam Marusic in his place in the back three.

The Biancocelesti defender has missed 19 games so far this season due to his ankle surgery, but it seems that he may finally be able to take to the pitch again soon.

Lazio want Luiz Felipe to be fully recovered ahead of the Derby della Capitale against Roma in 11 days’ time on the 15th of May.

The Roman club also want to address Luiz Felipe’s contract; despite months of negotiations, no new deal has been signed and with only a year left on his current deal, Barcelona have expressed their interest in the 24-year-old.
