Lazio’s Starting Midfield Trio All at Risk of Picking up One-Game Suspension

Lazio’s starting midfield trio of Luis Alberto, Lucas Leiva and Sergej Milinkovic-Savic are all at risk of suspension.

According to a report from Italian media outlet La Lazio Siamo Noi earlier today, Leiva’s yellow card in the 4-3 win over Genoa last week means he has now joined his midfield companions in a risky position.

All three of Lazio’s starting midfielders are only one yellow card away from missing the following game, a precarious position as the Biancocelesti look to win every remaining match and achieve qualification to the Champions League.

Lazio’s remaining games are against Fiorentina, Parma, Roma, Torino and Sassuolo. Looking at this list, the best game to be suspended for is the match against the Ducali, who are already relegated, and so it may be beneficial for at least one of the trio to pick up a yellow in that match.

Inzaghi does have other options in midfield, like Marco Parolo, Jean-Daniel Akpa Akpro, Danilo Cataldi, Andreas Pereira and Gonzalo Escalante, but the starting trio are the players who can make the difference.
