On Saturday, May 8, 2021, Lazio take on Fiorentina at the Stadio Artemio Franchi in Matchday 35 of the 2020/21 Serie A.

As it stands in the top flight of Italian football, the Biancocelesti sit in sixth with a record of 20-4D-9L (64 points) and the Viola sit in 14th with a record of 8W-11D-15L (35 points).

Below are the expected starting lineups of both Fiorentina and Lazio.

Fiorentina

Giuseppe Iachini’s side will likely line up in a 3-5-2 formation to start the match.

Bartłomiej Dragowski will start in goal; Nikola Milenkovic, German Pezzella and Martin Caceres will make up the back three; Erick Pulgar will be the holding midfielder with Sofyan Amrabat and Giacomo Bonaventura and to his right and left respectively; Lorenzo Venuti and Cristiano Biraghi will start on the right and left flanks; Franck Ribery and Dusan Vlahovic will start in attack.

Igor, Borja Valero and Aleksandr Kokorin are the three players who will be unavailable for the Viola against Lazio. The Brazilian is suspended while the Spaniard and Russian are absent for reasons unknown.

The list of Fiorentina players who are one yellow card away from suspension includes Christian Kouamé and Lucas Martinez Quarta.

(3-5-2): Dragowski; Milenkovic, Pezzella, Caceres; Venuti, Amrabat, Pulgar, Bonaventura, Biraghi; Ribery, Vlahovic

Lazio

Simone Inzaghi’s side will likely line up in a 3-5-2 formation to start the match.

Pepe Reina will start in goal; Adam Marusic, Francesco Acerbi and Stefan Radu will make up the back three; Lucas Leiva will be the holding midfielder with Sergej Milinkovic-Savic and Luis Alberto to his right and left respectively; Manuel Lazzari and Senad Lulic will start on the right and left flanks; Joaquin Correa and Ciro Immobile will start in attack.

Luiz Felipe, Felipe Caicedo, Gonzalo Escalante and Mohamed Fares are the four players who will be unavailable for the Biancocelesti against Fiorentina. While the Brazilian is close to a return, the recovery times of both the Ecuadorian (foot injury) and Argentine (calf injury) are yet to be determined. The Algerian is missing out on this match due to yellow card accumulation.

The list of Lazio players who are one yellow card away from suspension includes Leiva, Luis Alberto, Milinkovic-Savic, Marco Parolo and Andreas Pereira. With just five matches remaining in the Biancocelesti’s season, it seems inevitable that the club’s starting midfield trio will miss a match in the near future
