Last week, a report surfaced from Italian radio broadcaster Radiosei (via La Lazio Siamo Noi) regarding Lazio’s potential interest in ACF Fiorentina veteran Franck Ribery.
The Biancocelesti want to inject some youth into their squad, but they won’t say no to any older player if they believe he can help them win. However, before Lazio’s match against Fiorentina, sporting director Igli Tare addressed the rumour while speaking into the microphones of DAZN (via Lazio News).
Ribery? There is nothing true; they are all inventions. He is a great champion, but we are looking at other players.
It doesn’t seem as though Lazio has any interest in adding someone of Ribery’s age despite the amount of experience he would potentially bring to the squad, especially if the Rome-based club can clinch a spot in the UEFA Champions League next season.
Despite speculation of Lazio wanting to duplicate any veteran success – as they have with Pepe Reina – it seems as though they will prioritize younger players before dipping into the market with older players.
