“I Live This Birthday With Bitterness” – Lazio President Lotito Talks About Club’s 2-0 Loss to Fiorentina

Claudio Lotito

Despite everyone within the Lazio walls wanting to stay positive, there’s no denying that the 2-0 loss to ACF Fiorentina puts the Biancocelesti in a difficult spot if they aspire to see UEFA Champions League football next season.

Considering the team that they dropped points against, it’s even more frustrating because every opponent remaining on their schedule after the AC Milan fixture was below them in the Serie A standings.

After their loss, Lazio owner and president Claudio Lotito spoke to Lazio Style Radio. He provided his thoughts on the reality that the Rome-based club faces when it comes to Champions League aspirations and dealing with a loss on his birthday.

I live this birthday with bitterness for what happened yesterday in Florence but also with confidence.

At this moment, there is a need to plan one’s life, even with a different perspective, given what is happening in the world. It’s been 17 years since I joined Lazio; it seems like a lifetime.

Celebrating a birthday means realizing that time passed but also having faith in the future, both in terms of health and starting to plan personal goals.

The objectives must be achieved; I hope first of all that my health will assist me and that the conditions can be created to celebrate the following birthdays together.

Finally, I hope that my son Enrico will continue on my journey in representing the Biancocelesti colors.

Lazio will now need to secure all 12 points from their remaining games and hope that luck is on their side. They’ll have to cross their fingers and see whether two clubs ahead of them can drop points in this final stretch of fixtures in Serie A.
