Lazio’s Milinković-Savić Undergoes Surgery for Injury Sustained in the Loss to Fiorentina

Lazio’s weekend has gone from bad to worse, as their 2-0 loss to ACF Fiorentina not only took a toll on their UEFA Champions League hopes but also took a toll on their star midfielder, Sergej Milinković-Savić.

The Biancocelesti announced in a press release that the 26-year-old underwent surgery to reduce the fracture of his nasal bones which he sustained right at the end of the first half during the match against the Viola.

Milinković-Savić’s surgery was done at the Paideia Clinic by Prof. Piero Cascone and his team in the presence of Prof. Fabio Rodia. Lazio also added that the player would undergo clinical monitoring for the rest of the day to determine what his recovery schedule would look like.

Despite the injury, Milinković-Savić played all 90 minutes against Fiorentina. While the Rome-based didn’t give a timetable for his return, with a match against Parma Calcio in three days, it is possible that the player could be given a rest ahead of the final three matches.

Lazio may not need Milinković-Savić against Parma, who is heading down to Serie B, but they will need him to secure all remaining nine points after that match.
