Former Italian Defender Piscedda: “If Lazio Do Not Qualify for the Champions League, It Would Be a Shame”

Lazio’s Serie A top-four aspirations may have come to a close following its recent league loss to Fiorentina. The Biancocelesti’s defensive struggles continued in the match and the side failed to muster up multiple high percentage goal-scoring opportunities.

Former Italian defender Massimo Piscedda surely did not see this loss coming, especially as Lazio seemed as it was hitting its stride at the right time this season. Piscedda spoke to the Italian-based outlet Radiosei (via Cittaceleste) on his takeaways from Lazio’s defeat along with where the side now stands in the race for a top-four spot this season.

Lazio, for their part, showed too little temperament. I would have liked to see a team with more determination. I don’t understand why there were certain drops in tension.

Should Lazio fail to qualify for the Champions League, it would be a shame. Although, the fight for the top four spots has never been tighter. Lazio is certainly one of the best seven teams in Italy.

With a mere four matches remaining on its schedule, Lazio would need to win out and receive plenty of help along the way if it will go on to move into a top-four spot in the league table.
