As of late, Lazio has joined multiple powerhouse European clubs in the interest of Santos prospect Kaio Jorge. One recent report went as far as noting that Lazio came to an agreement with Santos for Jorge, although the Italian club debunked the report days later.
Still, Lazio remains in the rumor mill for a potential permanent transfer move that would bring in the coveted Brazilian forward.
For Santos president Andres Rueda, he would like to see Jorge prolong his stay at the Brazilian club, but the forward has already made a decision on his footballing future. Rueda recently provided (via Globo Esporte) a critical update on where Jorge stands with his career at Santos.
We continue to negotiate. As I have always said, it is difficult. Both the player and the family have come to the conclusion that it is time to go to Europe. The situation is simple: either a proposal arrives and he leaves this upcoming transfer window or we continue to try to negotiate. Not much has changed in the last few months. Football is a little withdrawn from the pandemic, so for now, things are on that footing. I remain confident in the team whether we renew the player’s contract or sell him.
Jorge has so far scored three goals over 10 appearances in all competitions with Santos this season. It remains to be seen whether Lazio will remain in the hunt to sign Jorge, especially as the upcoming summer transfer window nears closer and closer.
