Formello: Lazio’s Milinkovic-Savic Returns to Squad Training With a Protective Mask

Lazio midfielder Sergej Milinkovic-Savic returned to squad training today with a protective mask, ahead of Saturday’s derby against Roma.

As reported by Italian media outlet La Lazio Siamo Noi earlier today, the 26-year-old Serbian midfielder underwent surgery on Sunday last weekend after suffering a fractured nose in the Biancocelesti’s disappointing 2-0 loss to Fiorentina.

He was forced to miss yesterday’s 1-0 win over Parma due to the injury, but he has no intention of missing the upcoming Derby della Capitale against the Giallorossi on Saturday night.

Milinkovic-Savic completed the entirety of today’s session with the squad in Formello whilst wearing a protective mask and now he’s hoping to start on Saturday.

There was a light session for the players who started against Parma yesterday, as well as Luiz Felipe, Joaquin Correa and Felipe Caicedo, who all came on in the second half.

Mateo Musacchio was absent from training due to a physical problem and Wesley Hoedt has been fully removed from the squad now, no longer attending training.

Coach Simone Inzaghi still has to decide what starting 11 he’ll deploy against Paulo Fonseca’s Roma, with Lucas Leiva and Andreas Pereira returning from suspension. Luiz Felipe may also start, depending on the answers given in training tomorrow.
