Acerbi underwent an MRI which showed the extent of injury, which seemed to suggest that he had injured his collateral ligament, which would leave him sidelined for another three weeks and potentially force him to miss the upcoming Euro 2020.

The 33-year-old Acerbi is a part of Roberto Mancini’s 34-man Italy team ahead of the tournament, but it’s unclear if he’ll be included in the final 26-man squad on the 1st June, due to the injury.

Acerbi made 42 appearances across all competitions this season, for a total of 3715 minutes. In that time, he has scored one goal, provided three assists and helped the side keep 10 clean sheets.
