Lazio are one step closer to signing Inter defender Danilo D’Ambrosio on a free transfer this summer.
As reported by Italian media outlet TuttoMercatoWeb earlier today, the Biancocelesti’s talks with the 32-year-old Italian defender, whose contract expires with the Nerazzurri after six and a half years in Milan, have reached an advanced stage, with sporting director Igli Tare keen on the soon to be free agent.
Whilst the Biancocelesti are looking to rejuvenate their squad this summer, D’Ambrosio would be an experienced and low-cost option that could help shore up the club’s back-line.
Considering the disappointing performances of Wesley Hoedt and Mateo Musacchio this season, it’s clear that Lazio need to sign a new defender in the summer, giving more options to coach Simone Inzaghi.
The 32-year-old D’Ambrosio has made 23 appearances across all competitions so far this season, for a total of 908 minutes. In that time, he has scored three goals and helped the side keep eight clean sheets.
