Torino Manager Nicola Previews the Upcoming Serie A Fixture Against Lazio

After a months-long delay due to a coronavirus-related issue, Lazio and Torino will finally have their scheduled return Serie A fixture, which will take place tomorrow from the Stadio Olimpico.

Torino still has not cleared itself from possibly being relegated this season as it currently stands a mere three points above 18th place Benevento. For Torino manager Davide Nicola, he sees an arduous challenge ahead against Lazio, which he detailed further in pre-match comments relayed by the Italian-based outlet La Lazio Siamo Noi.

Lazio is a consolidated group; they’ve been playing together for years. It’s a team that knows itself. But we are mainly interested in expressing ourselves.

I’ll certainly field the best lineup, thinking not only about the starters but also about substitutions. We have two close games [in proximity of each other] but in the meantime, we will face Lazio tomorrow with those who are available, bringing our identity and healthy enthusiasm, to demonstrate the values that should allow us to reach a goal that we have shown we deserve.

Lazio does not have much to play for this season as the side will finish off the campaign in sixth place. As a result, the Biancocelesti will miss out on playing in the UEFA Champions League next season but will feature in the Europa League group stage.

At the least, Lazio will be aiming to complete the campaign with yet another 70+ points season, which the side was able to accomplish last season.
