Key Stat Highlights Ciro Immobile’s Penalty Kick Inconsistencies in Serie A This Season

Lazio forward Ciro Immobile had a monumental late opportunity to essentially clinch a win for his side in the Serie A fixture against Torino. Immobile was awarded a penalty kick during the late stages of the match but in the end, his attempt hit the woodwork to the surprise of many Torino players.

Overall, Immobile has had some struggles with penalty kicks this season. As noted by Opta Paolo, the Italian forward has gone one to miss the most penalties taken (4/8) this season among players within Europe’s top five leagues.

This is unlike Immobile, especially as he scored on 14 out of 15 penalty attempts over last season. More so, this is the first time in his Serie A career that he will finish a campaign missing at least four penalty kick attempts.

Immobile still remains among the more proficient penalty kick takers in Serie A and his slight struggles this season should not downplay his superb efficiency in this aspect of play.
