Lazio defender Francesco Acerbi may return for the Biancocelesti’s final game of the season against Sassuolo.
As reported by Italian radio broadcaster Radiosei (via La Lazio Siamo Noi) earlier today, it was feared that the 33-year-old Italian defender had possibly sprained the collateral ligament in his knee, but fortunately, this was not the case and the injury is less serious than it initially seemed.

Coach Simone Inzaghi will decide whether or not to risk Acerbi against Sassuolo on Sunday, in a game that Lazio now have nothing to play.
The 33-year-old Acerbi will be part of the Italy squad for this summer’s European Championship and so he may be rested to allow him to avoid taking any risks against the Neroverdi.

Much will also depend on Acerbi and his desire to play, as he has proven in the past that he’s not willing to give up easily despite injuries.
The former Sassuolo defender has made 42 appearances across all competitions this season for Lazio, for a total of 3715 minutes. In that time, he has scored one goal and provided three assists, helping the side keep 10 clean sheets.
